    Biology & Anatomy Solo Essentials

Standard Experience 1-Pack | Barn Owl Pellet Kit

Bring real science to the table.

The Biology & Anatomy Solo Essentials Premium Experience is a complete, hands-on dissection kit built around one authentic, heat-sterilized barn owl pellet. No simulations. No plastic bones. Just the real biological story, waiting to be uncovered.

Perfect for independent learners, homeschool environments, enrichment programs, and anyone ready to trade worksheets for evidence.

    What’s Inside

    1 Heat-Sterilized Barn Owl Pellet
Collected in the wild and professionally heat-treated for safe classroom use.

    Illustrated Instruction Guide
Clear, step-by-step excavation guidance plus a graphic explanation of what an owl pellet is and how it forms inside the owl’s digestive system.

    Excavation Tools
Precision pick and forceps for careful bone recovery and identification.

    Resealable Storage Pouch
The same durable pouch your kit arrives in doubles as secure storage for your recovered bones and findings.

    Available in 3 Sizes

Choose the experience that fits your learning goals:

    Economy / Small (1.0" – 1.49")
    Standard / Medium (1.5" – 2.49")
    Premium / Large (2.5"+)

Larger pellets typically contain more material and may yield a greater variety of identifiable bones, making them ideal for deeper analysis and extended study.

    What Students Actually Do

Instead of memorizing food webs, learners uncover them.

As owls consume prey whole, indigestible material such as fur and bones compresses into a pellet inside the gizzard. After digestion, the pellet is regurgitated, creating a compact biological record of the owl’s last meal.

Inside this single pellet, students may discover skulls, jawbones, vertebrae, ribs, and limb bones from small mammals. Each fragment becomes data. Each bone becomes evidence.

It’s anatomy, ecology, and predator-prey relationships in one small, powerful package.

    Designed for Real Learning

    • Encourages observation, classification, and comparative anatomy
    • Reinforces ecosystem concepts and trophic relationships
    • Builds analytical thinking through hands-on discovery
    • Supports NGSS-aligned scientific practices

This isn’t busywork. It’s applied biology.

    Ideal For

    • Homeschool science lessons
    • Middle school and high school biology
    • STEM enrichment
    • Independent study projects
    • Nature-curious adults who aren't afraid of a little fur

From pouch to pick to preserved bones, everything you need is included. Open it. Explore it. Store your discoveries. Repeat.

Science doesn’t need to be complicated. It just needs to be real.

Got these for my neice & nephew. It was fun to find bones & teeth. Make sure you wear gloves when you dissect.

This kit was pretty awesome! I remember doing these when I was in elementary school and wanted to share the experience with my 9 year old niece. She found interesting to see all the bones. We had a total of 4 skulls in our pellet too! Would definitely purchase again!

This is such a cool activity to do with kids! My son was busy and engaged for a long time searching for bones. He would then compare them to the flyer inside to figure out what animal it belongs to. This is fun for all ages! You will learn a lot about food chains and different animals that owls eat. There are bones in every owl pellet.
