Barn Owls eat a variety of prey, which means that you don’t know what you’re going to find in a pellet when you dissect it! The favorite food of Barn Owls is voles, but they also eat a variety of other things:
-
Rodents
-
Insects
-
Small reptiles
-
Fish
-
Frogs
-
Birds
They can even get their hands on young skunks and rabbits during the spring.
A Barn Owl’s diet is varied and depends on the seasons. Different types of prey are more or less available during certain seasons. Weather also can be a factor that affects food availability.
