What obstacles are there to filming wildlife?

Are you interested in filming wildlife documentaries?

Filming on public lands isn’t quite as simple as taking out your camera and shooting. If you’re working on a project that you won’t make money off of, then it can be that simple, but if you’re shooting a commercial project, there are some hoops you need to go through.

You’ll need to have all of the details figured out about what filming will entail.

  • How long will you be on the land?
  • How many people will be with you?
  • What equipment will you use?

These are just some of the questions that you’ll need to answer on an application that then gets reviewed by the local agency in charge of the land you want to film on. Applications usually also come with fees that you’ll have to pay.

Many issues arise when it comes to the use of public lands. Check out our article here to learn what other issues there are and what it takes to film there!
