Forget predictable.
These rare and highly unusual pellets come from crows, gulls, eagles, and other opportunistic birds gathered from across the Western United States. Unlike traditional owl pellets that often focus heavily on rodents, these specimens can contain an astonishing variety of remains — from insects and amphibians to feathers, eggshells, reptiles, crustaceans, and more.
Every pellet tells a different story.
Every dissection becomes a mystery.
Students and explorers may uncover:
Fur & feathers
Bird remains
Insects exoskeletons
Small mammals
Frogs & toads
Crawfish
Snakes & lizards
And other bizarre discoveries nature forgot to label
Because no two are alike.
These pellets create incredible classroom discussions around:
Food webs & ecosystems
Predator vs. scavenger behavior
Adaptation & survival
Animal anatomy
Environmental science
Observation & critical thinking
Frankly, they’re weird.
And students absolutely love weird.
These are far more difficult to source consistently than traditional barn owl pellets, and availability changes constantly throughout the year.
That’s why educators, collectors, homeschool families, and science enthusiasts tend to grab them quickly whenever they appear.

Sterilized barn owl pellets from Owl Brand Supply Company and Discovery Kits come in three sizes and from two regions of the United States, including SW US and NW US.
Here are the size ranges for both regions, which are also described in each product detail. The general rule of thumb is, the larger the pellet, the more prey there are in it.
Please note, we cannot make any guarantee of what is inside the pellet. Only you can do that when you dissect it!
